Board of Health Minutes 6/4/12
MONTEREY BOARD OF HEALTH MEETING MINUTES

Date:  June 4, 2012
Present:  Robert Annelli, Peter Kolodziej and John Makuc
Also Present: Barbara Gauthier and Officer Johnson

The meeting began at 4pm

1.  The Board discussed a situation brought to their attention by the Police Department about a possible hoarding situation on Mt Hunger Rd.  The police were unsure based on their observations whether someone was still living there or not.  Peter explained the options of handling the situation.  Officer Mike Johnson was present for the part of the meeting and informed the Board of what his concerns were.  Peter is planning on a site visit on Thursday June 7, to be accompanied by Chief Backhaus.
2.  Barbara Gauthier came in to present revised floor plans to the Board for her renovation project at 522 Main Rd.  The Board reviewed the house plans and determined the house will be a four bedroom house.  The Board also determined that the Gauthier’s could reoccupy the house once the renovations were completed despite the new septic not being installed.  Peter was going to double check on the septic plans to make sure everything was in order.  The reason for this was that the Gauthier’s wish to install the new system when they landscape which will occur after the house renovations, the renovations may be completed in the winter when landscaping cannot be completed, and the renovations will not disturb the currently functioning system.
3.  Discussion continued regarding the Town Nurse surveys.  John will email Sarah to see where things stand regarding the health care provider survey and the resident survey, as well as the cover letters.
4.  A brief discussion occurred regarding the function held at the Monterey General store without permits from the Board of Health.  The Board felt they did not have enough information relative to the number of people, the foods served, whether or not in was catered and the presence of alcohol. Input is needed from the Selectboard and the Building Department.  It might be appropriate to have a meeting with the new owners once more information is known to determine if it appears there was a violation of regulations/protocol.
5.  Regarding 109 Pixley Rd. and possible permitting needed to operate a fitness center, the board needs more information regarding the scope of the program.
6.  The next meeting is scheduled for Monday, June 18th, 2012 at 4pm.

The meeting adjourned at 5:10pm
